Moscow -- The Canadian International Development Agency has increased its support for a project to help improve gender equality in the Russian labour market by $600,000 for a total of $2.6 million. The Canadian and Russian partners are working with the Russian State Duma to draft a model law on gender equality for both the federal and regional levels.

The project also includes developing a course for union leaders on the gender aspects of collective bargaining, training for unemployed women in Kirov and establishment of an centre for women entrepreneurs in Murmansk.
