Paediatric open learning course

Journal of Diabetes Nursing, Oct, 2004

Q I'm trying to find an appropriate paediatric diabetes course that could be done as open learning. Is there a module in a degree that could be done and, of course, would be recognised?

A As far as we are aware, there is no paediatric diabetes course that is wholly distance learning, however, Birmingham Children's Hospital now offers a course articulated by the University of Central England at Level 5 (Diploma) and Level 6 (Degree) for 48 credits.

The first module is undertaken over four months as distance learning. Two further modules will be undertaken as two separate weeks at Birmingham Children's Hospital during the following four months. The course is open to qualified nurses, dietitians and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of children with diabetes. For further information contact: lesley.porter@bch.nhs.uk.
