McNeal, associate professor and assistant dean at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Nursing, received the Publisher Award from the Association of Black Nursing Faculty, Incorporated at their Awards Luncheon held at their 17th Annual Meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Saturday, June 26, 2004.

Dr. McNeal also was the proud recipient of the research award from the National Black Nurses Association Concerned Black Nurses of Newark Chapter for her grant-funded studies of critical care nursing practice and the scholarly productivity of the African American professoriate at U.S. schools of nursing.
