Yvonne Parchment, EdD. ARNP, CS, a clinical assistant professor at Florida International University, has worked in South Florida as a nurse for the past 23 years. Prior to this she was employed as a college-trained early childhood teacher in Kingston Jamaica. In her capacity as bedside nurse, clinical educator and professor, Dr. Parchment endeavors to instill in her students and members of the community the advantages of practicing timely health screenings and maintenance of healthy lifestyles. She has conducted a pilot study examining delays in prostate cancer screening in Blacks and travels to churches and other community events to speak on this topic.
