Big business, fair, wages

Catholic New Times, June 1, 2003 by Larry Carney

Kevin Spurgaitis' article (CNT May 4, 2003) on Dress Codes and Labour Rules sure seems encouraging. It gives hope to see so many young people, especially in Catholic schools, taking a strong stand on world moral issues like sweat shops. Also on a more hopeful note, I wonder how many people have seen two recent reports on 60 Minutes of a highly successful corporate leader in North Carolina who offers high wages, day care for families, health care for employees, excellent Working conditions for them among the many "perks" of the company? He says that he's not a "do-gooder," but that it just makes good business sense to have contented workers.

Wouldn't it be great if more big time CEO's got this idea?
