Reader "not alone"
Catholic New Times, June 29, 2003 by Finn Gallagher
Francois Brassard's "Why I remain Catholic" (CNT, June 1, 2003) was edifying and thought-provoking. Occasionally I ponder why I remain Catholic, and, alas, reach a somewhat less edifying conclusion.
Given a Roman Curia that is reactionary, repressive, perilously out-of-touch, and a Supreme Pontiff who is, at best, a pathetic mass of contradictions, I think the prime reason I remain Catholic is my reluctance to abandon my church to fundamentalist hijackers.
The CNT and like publications sporadically confirm that I am not alone in this attitude.
