Tom Doyle right - Letters

Catholic New Times, Nov 3, 2002 by Ken Elliott

Fr. Tom Doyle's incisive article on the child abuse by the Roman Catholic clergy and the consequent coverup by many bishops (CNT, Oct. 6), is excellent. It hits the bull's eye of this problem in the Roman Catholic Church today.

Fr. Doyle's precision in explaining the problem is noteworthy. But even more so is his careful explanation of what has to be done by the church now. His call for an objective evaluations and action is paramount. His call for decisive action--not simply words--is vital if the church is to regain its moral authority.

I would suggest that a copy of Fr. Doyle's article be sent to Cardinal Josef Ratzinger in the Vatican immediately for distribution among the Cardinals in the Curia.
