The Tragically Hip's "No Threat" a real threat

Catholic New Times, April 9, 2006 by Din Yalonen

"No Threat," on the album Yer Favourites, released November 2005.

This is the first track on the first compilation of Greatest Hits from the Hip, and what a song! So relevant to me right now, it is about knowing your place and wanting to be more. When you know your capacity, man you can really let it rip.

"I am here, it's only me, I ain't freed nobody yet, it's just me, clearing spiderwebs, I'm a listener, I'm no threat," sings Gord Downie. It resonates when I think of those Christian Peacemaker Teams members who were trying to help Iraqi detainees before they themselves were abducted and detained. This song is a real threat to couch sitting: it'll at least get you to get up and thrash around your living room like a teenager again.

If you have wanted to purchase The Hip's music, start with this compilation. If you already own the songs, download "No Threat" for 99 cents from www.apple.com/itunes.>
