Ed Griffin for pope

Catholic New Times, April 24, 2005 by Ed Griffin

We want the people of Afghanistan to vote. We want the people of Iraq to vote. Everywhere in the world we want people to vote. I'm calling on all Catholics to break the Roman dictator ship and vote for me in the next papal election. Cast your ballot. Don't be afraid of Vatican goons who will sentence you to hell. Stand up as a free Christian and cast a ballot for Ed Griffin for pope.

Or cast your ballot by email to: Vote For Pope, info@vatican.va

Show Rome we're serious. Suppose a few Canadians decide to vote for pope. Then a few more. And a few more. The idea catches on--Canada, Europe, maybe the world. Reform doesn't come from the top, it comes from down below.

If I'm elected, I intend to call a council to decide issues for the church. There will be one representative from every diocese in the world as long as half are women. The council will decide such issues as celibacy, birth control, and the far bigger issues of world poverty, racism and war. If I'm elected, I won't be cranking out encyclicals, deciding things by myself. I plan to let the Holy Spirit run the church for a change.
