On "Star Wars" and gay marriage

Catholic New Times, May 9, 2004 by John Hamilton

While I am convinced that the latest "Star Wars" ideas of the U.S. administration will never work, (CNT, April 11, 2004) I might be wrong. So I am also of the opinion that Canada should be part of the programme. My reasoning is that, if it does work and Canada is not a partner, there would be nothing to stop the U.S. from dropping whatever it shoots down, on Canada. If we are part of the programme, the U.S. might not drop its "garbage" on us.

Since many religious bodies have been saying that marriage is a religious responsibility (and, therefore, some have said that they will not sanction any same sex union), perhaps it might be appropriate to define "marriage" (homosexual or heterosexual) as the result of a religious ceremony and, therefore any other union (heterosexual or homosexual) would be a "civil union" (Or some other appropriate term).
