Appreciates CNTers in the media

Catholic New Times, March 8, 2005 by Jennifer Weir

It was great to hear you CNTers on CBC radio and CBC Sunday Report with Carol MacNeill and Evan Solomon. If it were not for your paper and its ideas, there would be nothing for me in Catholicism.

The social teaching, the preferential option for the poor, the church as the people of God, the environment as a manifestation of God and our need to respect it, are all important to me. I hope that we get a new pope who is progressive and less autocratic than JPII, one who will actually give credence to the idea that women have dignity, will allow priests to marry and eventually allow women to be ordained.

I love your paper.

If I had to rely on dogma, patriarchalism and clericalism as the basis for my faith, it would be difficult for me to remain in the church. Keep up the good work.

Hopefully, more Catholics will think for themselves and work for change in the church
