Critiquing corporate power

Catholic New Times, May 21, 2006 by Rene Moreau

Why is the fact that most of the lumber companies in B.C. and Ont. are American companies not discussed? Is there an unwritten law?

Have we arrived at a time in history when corporate power has become so strong that control of ALL the editors in Canada is assured?

We know for instance, since the days of NAFTA that American corporate elite just push and push until they meet resistance, (and only then do they back off). There is a real shortage of resistance in the Canadian business and government leaders.

Corporate interests can even put their own people into government and business interests to make sure their interests are covered and resistance defeated or marginalized. Faced with corporate power getting out of hand, is it time yet, for a leash on corporate interests?
