Communications

National Voter, Oct, 2008

As the general election approaches, the League's Communications Department continues to reach out to diverse media outlets and leverage existing partnerships to spread the word about the wide range of our election work. We also continue to receive and respond to an escalating number of election-related media inquiries.

Topics of our election-year outreach range from important election reform work to urging voter registration, promoting the enhanced resources available on www.V0TE411 .org and touting the importance of quality poll worker recruitment and training. These efforts have paid off in coverage by the New York Times, Baltimore Sun, Associated Press, and others. Additionally, the League's work to register voters was featured on the Reuters news screen in New York City's Times Square!

From continuing to call upon the presidential candidates to address their fundraising practices to joining with other groups in urging Senators to take swift, meaningful action against global climate change, the Communications Department is also working closely with the Advocacy Department and the Grassroots Lobby Corps to continue the drumbeat for important public policy change. These efforts have resulted in coverage by the Associated Press, ABC News and others. Go to www.lwv.org for the latest in LWVUS press statements and news coverage.
