Formerly?

T+D, Dec, 2003 by Haidee E. Allerton

That's a cover that is sure to get people talking: "The Future of the Profession Formerly Known as Training."

What's going on? A lot, as you'll read in the cover story by Pat Galagan, managing director of content at ASTD and a woman who has been working in this arena for quite a while. Galagan has watched the field, profession, whatever we call it (and that's just one of the issues addressed in the article) evolve, she knows the players--founding and newcomers--she knows what's going on. If you read only one article in T D this month, or this year, this should be the one.

As we look to next year, 2004 is the 60th anniversary of ASTD and T D magazine. Sixty years. We will begin to commemorate and celebrate that milestone as the year kicks off and especially in the May issue distributed at ASTD's International Conference & Exposition in Washington, D.C.

The January issue will also have some changes--a new column here, a refreshing of an existing column there, some subtle design updates. We renew every January, based greatly on your feedback on our reader surveys. And we thank you.

Here's to the future, whatever it holds.
