A Diverse View I thoroughly enjoyed "Redefining Diversity" by Richard Koonce (December). I thought it was a timely article on a topic that touches all aspects of our business world, as well as our society.

I'm a diversity consultant who has conducted sessions internationally and throughout the United States.
Koonce is on target about the need to redefine diversity and stop thinking it's just race, age, and gender. Diversity is much, much more. It's all the ways in which we're different, yet similar. It's our way of thinking, our preferences for doing things a certain way, and all of our life experiences and cultures.
Some additional examples include being left-handed (computer mouses are geared for right-handed people), being short or overweight (so you don't fit the corporate image), and having body piercings or tattoos (so you don't get hired).
Keep articles about diversity (and the impact it has on the business world and society) coming!

Never Too Late for Kudos
I recently read your April 2000 issue, as part of research that I'm doing on work-related issues. I read the article "How to Keep Gen X Employees From Becoming X-Employees," by Will Ruch. I am dazzled by the talent, style, and intelligence that went into that article.
