Rejuvenating the classics - K+B Studio/Products

Custom Home, Jan-Feb, 2004

Heartland Appliances' Classic ranges may look like antiques, but their performance is strictly 21st century. The company recently added options and accessories that transform the 48-inch New Classic range into an up-to-date cooking center. Behind the old-fashioned enameled panels and doors lie such modern conveniences as a warming drawer and a 4-cubic-foot self-cleaning oven with both conventional and convection cooking modes.

The temperature-controlled warming drawer under the oven holds up to 18 11-inch-diameter dinner plates at temperatures that range from 130 to 220 degrees F. A humidity control feature allows moisture levels to be adjusted to keep food crisp or moist. The overhead cabinet conceals a quiet, 350-cfm exhaust system.

The range is available in dual-fuel or electric models that deliver up to 10,000 BTUs or 2,500 watts. All models have nickel-plated trim and are available in white, almond, teal, green, red, blue, black, yellow, and stainless steel. 800.361.1517. www.heartlandappliances.com. Circle 176
