Walls of clay

Custom Home, Jan-Feb, 2005

A combination of clay, aggregates, and natural mineral oxide and ochre pigments, American Clay Original Earth Plaster allows designers to create plaster-like interior wall treatments from super-smooth to highly textured surfaces. Clay's natural properties help regulate arid and humid interior climates by absorbing and releasing moisture as environmental conditions change, making American Clay a natural option for humid bathrooms and kitchens. The products give off no volatile organic compounds, resist mold, and are non-flammable and durable.

An alternative to cement, gypsum, acrylic, and lime plasters, American Clay is compatible with "breathing" construction in both historic and new buildings. Three finishes are available: Loma creates a soft, even finish that can be worked into a matte look or an unlimited variety of textures; Porcelina uses kaolin in its formula and gives a super-smooth Venetian plaster-type finish; and Marittimo incorporates a seashell aggregate for a smooth, yet faceted effect. Thirty colors are available. 866.404.1634. www.americanclay.com. Circle 180.
