G3 Power Macs get a PowerJolt

Mactell Corp. last week announced the PowerJolt OverDrive, a new line of processor upgrade cards for 233- and 266-MHz Power Mac G3s.

The PowerJolt OverDrive cards will boost speeds by up to 60 percent, the company said.

The line consists of four models: a 300-MHz card with 512 Kbytes of backside cache and a 2-to-1 cache ratio costs $899; a 266-MHz model with 1 Mbyte of backside cache and a 2-to-1 ratio is $995; a 300-MHz card sporting 1 Mbyte of cache and a 2-to-1 ratio is $1,195; and a 300-MHz, 1-Mbyte-cache model with a 1-to-1 cache ratio costs $1,995, the company said.
