Tech Squared Inc. in January took the wraps off Translation Station, its new modular storage system.
The company offers a variety of fixed and removable drives for the Fast SCSI-2 tower. Without drive modules, the Translation Station costs $399.
Hard drive modules are priced from $229 to $2,000 for capacities from 2 to 23 Gbytes.
For removable drives, the company offers Iomega Jaz and Zip modules for $299 and $139, respectively, and SyQuest EZFlyer and SyJet versions for $149 and $299, respectively. A 640-Mbyte magneto-optical drive based on a Fujitsu mechanism is $499.
In addition, the system can handle a $449 CD-ReWritable module that reads at 6x and writes at 2x, as well as a CD-Recordable drive that reads at 12x and writes at 4x.
