Mad cow manifesto - Letters To The Editor - reader's comment on meat safety in the United States - Letter to the Editor

Natural Health, Jan-Feb, 2002 by Heather Moore

Kudos to Natural Health for printing the article "Why Mad Cow Could Happen in America" in your October/November 2001 issue. I hope this article will convince more readers to go vegetarian.

Mad cow disease may not be an epidemic in the United States yet, but our meat is still about as clean as a cesspool and as safe as a gun in the hands of a 5-year-old. Animal products are often contaminated with E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and other disease-causing bacteria. Animal products also contribute to heart disease, obesity, cancer, and countless other health problems. Mad cow disease is just one more reason why people should only eat plant foods.
