We all feel the pain: feeling apprehensive lately? You're not alone. Recent events have all of us a little jittery - mind, body & spirit - survey results

Natural Health, Jan-Feb, 2002

A SURVEY CONDUCTED three weeks after the terrorist attacks of September 11 found that 52 percent of respondents felt depressed, 62-percent were suffering from insomnia, and 66 percent had trouble concentrating. Experts say these reactions can linger for as long as 12 months.

"Nobody is not affected. We're all directly involved in this," says James Gordon, M.D., psychiatrist and director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C. For more than four years, he has provided psychological support to citizens in war-tom Kosovo, and now he is helping Americans cope.

You need to anticipate every imaginable kind of reaction, from depression to indifference, and honor them all without judging them, says Gordon.
