Essential Homeopathy. . - In Brief - book review

Natural Health, Jan-Feb, 2002 by David Plunkett

Essential Homeopathy BY DANA ULLMAN, M.P.H. NEW WORLD LIBRARY; $10.95

This short book delivers a lot of helpful information. It includes clear and convincing explanations of how homeopathic remedies work and offers self-treatment advice that acknowledges that sometimes conventional medicine is more appropriate. Unfortunately, the book does strain credibility in places. Even though Ullman sometimes cites well-researched scientific studies that find positive results for homeopathy, he frequently chooses to bolster his arguments with unsupported statements. For example, he refers to C. Everett Koop as "America's most respected doctor." And some of his references are so imprecise they distract, like when he cites "a book that won the Pulitzer Prize in 1982" without naming it.
