Can't be too careful with surgery - Mailbox - Letter to the Editor

Natural Health, Jan-Feb, 2003 by Deb Kiska

I ENJOYED MY OCTOBER/NOVEMBER ISSUE, BUT I DO HAVE A COMMENT ON the article "Sail Through Surgery." I am a surgical nurse, and I prefer to use herbal remedies instead of prescription drugs and I talk to my patients about them as well. But mere are some herbs that we would like patients to be off of for up to two weeks before surgery because having the wrong herb on board can be a life or death complication. Patients need to know how important it is to tell the people involved in their surgery everything they are taking and have taken for two weeks prior to surgery.
