Rescuing My Child

Natural Health, April, 1999 by Lisa Siegel

Every three to six weeks Jessica visited the holistic doctor, who monitored her progress and gave her whatever supplements she needed. On that doctor's recommendation, we then went to a practitioner who uses a therapy similar to the Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). NAET practitioners say that allergies are linked to energy blockages in the body. We began weekly treatments in which Jessica held a homeopathic preparation of a substance she had tested sensitive to (such as milk or wheat) while the practitioner tested the strength of Jessica's muscles. A weakness may indicate that the body associates an emotional issue with that substance. Then the practitioner massaged certain acupressure points to change Jessica's response to the substance. (For more information on NAET therapy, see "The Man Who Couldn't Lift a Pea," Natural Health, July/August 1998.)

Less than three months of these treatments transformed Jessica into a different child. No longer was she sick all the time, and when she did become ill, she could fight off the viruses without getting secondary bacterial infections. As the weekly treatments continued over the next three years (approximately 40 allergens were cleared), Jessica's health kept improving and she grew by leaps and bounds. Jessica is n years old now. It has been 9 1/2 years since she was diagnosed with the blood condition. It has not returned. The last two summers my daughter attended sleepover camps with her girlfriends and remained healthy despite very little sleep and a great deal of junk food.
