Yoga Gems. - book review

Natural Health, April, 2002 by Adina Davis

EDITED BY GEORG FEUERSTEIN

BANTAM BOOKS; $12.95

This small book is a useful reminder that yoga is not just a series of stretches to lengthen our hamstrings or relieve our stress. It's an ancient practice meant to be lived 24 hours a day, an integral ingredient of a lifelong attempt to attain spiritual wholeness. Each chapter briefly explains a tenet of yogic philosophy, from the mundane (finding the right teacher) to the cosmic (finding our true nature). The book really is a jewel box, full of glittering quotations from masters both ancient and modern, Eastern and Western, including luminaries like the Dalai Lama. Both newcomers and those already into their own practice should keep a copy beside their bed.
