A recent Environmental Protection Agency report found that 20 out of 158 randomly selected airplanes carried drinking water that contained intestinal bacteria and did not meet U.S. safety standards. Twelve major airlines have since agreed to improve disinfection and increase water testing, but your best bet for bug-free travel is to bring your own bottled water.
