Massage your gums; stimulating your gums every day is an important way to keep your whole body healthy - Bodycare - Brief Article

Natural Health, July, 2002

IGNORE YOUR GUMS AND YOU could invite serious trouble. Seventy-five percent of Americans over age 35 have some degree of gum disease, which may actually raise the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. You can reverse or prevent early-stage gum disease (indicated by inflamed gums or bleeding when brushing) by stimulating your gums twice daily, says Michael C. Goldman, D.D.S., a holistic dentist in Chevy Chase, Md.

To do this, he recommends using a toothpicklike plaque remover (like Stim-U-Dent) or a rubber-tipped stimulator (found at the end of some toothbrushes). (If your teeth are tight, use floss instead.) Massage the triangles of gum between your teeth for several minutes. Doing so helps clean out bacteria, Goldman says.

To keep your gums and your teeth in top shape, you should also brush twice a day, floss daily, and see your dentist every six months.

In its purest form, office politics is simply about getting from here to there: securing a promotion, seeing an idea come to fruition, or gaining support to make an organizational change. Playing the game well is about defending your position, earning respect, exchanging favors, and keeping your sanity amid the chaos. To get started, you need to know what you really want from work, then orient your political moves toward those goals. It all starts with strong relationships and helping others; those people in return make up the support system that helps you realize your goals. Here’s how it’s done.

Blockbuster's New Storefront In the Grocery-Store Aisle

Blockbuster is rolling out grocery-store kiosks, a move that could take out upstart Redbox and re-establish its foothold in middle America. The relatively old-fashioned DVD push is infinitely smarter than pushing into the crowded digital space or continuing its losing mail-order battle against Netflix. Local movie boxes are still a wide open market. The indie [...]
