Nixing red meat and loading up on produce

Natural Health, May, 2004

> NIXING RED MEAT AND LOADING UP ON PRODUCE could reduce your risk of colorectal cancer, according to the British Journal of Cancer. Researchers followed more than 10,000 people for 17 years, and found that vegetarians were 15 percent less likely than meat eaters to develop the disease. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in women after lung and breast cancer; the latter was linked to a high-fat, red-meat diet in a study published last year in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
