Add eggs to your breakfast plate once or twice a week. In a study at Wayne State University in Detroit, overweight women ate either yogurt and a bagel with cream cheese, or two eggs and toast with jelly. While each meal racked up 340 calories, the eggs group reported a greater sense of satiety and consumed 29 percent fewer calories at lunch; the fullness effect lasted until noon the next day.
For the best results, make the toast wholegrain. In a recent American Journal of Clinical Nutrition study of more than 27,000 men, those who ate 40 grams of whole grains daily gained significantly less weight over eight years than those who skimped on whole-grain foods.
