From the beginning … there were gifts from mom

Natural Health, May, 2005 by Gloria Gilbere

May is set aside to honor mothers--this article deals with honoring gifts from our mothers.

No gift can compare in value with the first gift we receive from our mother--colostrum. The mother gifts her child with a yellowish liquid that transfers immunity to her newborn, hence the term "transfer factor" (immunity transferred from mother to child). This gift provides life-supporting immune and growth factors--ensuring the health and vitality of the recipient.

Today, with antibiotic resistant bacteria and chronic disorders, we need additional immune support from nature, not man. Colostrum is not just for newborns, it's the perfect supplemental food unmatched as the body's super defender.

Those that follow my writings and research know of my fondness for supplements and whole-foods made from natural goat-milk. When I was personally challenged with a life-threatening digestive disorder, goat-milk products facilitated my recovery.

In identifying the best natural support for immune functions, I insist on Colostrum from goats that are never fed synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics or feed containing pesticides or herbicides. Furthermore, the processing should be by heat transfer--gently and efficiently removing moisture while preserving nutrient levels, keeping it as close to nature as possible.

"Colostrum is the ideal solution for Leaky Out Syndrome. It reaches the gut while its components are still viable, its immunoglobulins and other factors can attack the offending pathogens in the intestines and prevent them from causing damage. The anti-aging factors have anti-inflammatory action and also help repair damaged cells in the lining, thus preventing further leakage."

--Donald R. Henderson, M.D., respected gastroenterologist

colostrum's benefits

There are over 90 known health-enhancing components in colostrum, the primary-immune and growth factors-not found anywhere else in such high concentrations.

IMMUNE FACTORS SHOWN TO:

* Fight viruses, bacteria, yeast and funguses

* Provide 20 antibodies (effective against E. coli, salmonella, candida, streptococcus, staphylococcus, H. pylori, and crystosporidia)

* Contain immunoglobulins (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG and IgM)

--Support compromised immune systems

--Balance overactive immune responses (autoimmune disorders)

--Promote muscle growth

* Contain lactoferrin (antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties)

* Reduce allergies

* Supply Oligo-polysaccharides and glycoconjugates (attracts and binds to pathogens, preventing them from attaching in the digestive tract)

* Contain several enzymes (active in breaking up and hydrolyzing bacteria)

GROWTH FACTORS HELP BUILD AND RESTORE:

* Adult thymus gland (central to immune functions)

* Blood sugar levels (balancing)

* Energy and stamina

* Bone, muscle, nerve and connective tissue, skin and cartilage

* Lean muscle mass (help burn body fat for fuel)

* Skin collagen (protect and slow the aging process)

* Damaged tissue and gut lining

taking colostrum

Researchers suggest starting with a load-dose (larger doses initially, reduced after results are obtained).

Loading dose--2 to 4 capsules (1450-2900 mgs.) twice daily (empty stomach)

Maintenance--2 capsules twice daily (empty stomach)

Athletes--Performance and endurance enhancement, take 30-45 minutes before workout (Best results reported at about 2900-5800 mgs. per day).
