Super hair secrets: follow the advice of a pro - Bodycare - Brief Article

Natural Health, Oct-Nov, 2002

Treat your hair right with these three tips from Stephanie Tourles, an aesthetician in West Hyannisport, Mass., and author of Naturally Healthy Skin (Storey Books, 1999):

Add Shine. After drying your hair but before styling it, place a dime-size amount of castor oil into one of your palms, rub your palms together, and work the oil through your hair, concentrating on the ends. Do not rinse out.

Clean Your tools. At least once a month, wash your hairbrushes and combs in a bowl of warm soapy water spiked with a handful of baking soda. This will remove dead skin and bacteria from your tools and deodorize them. Dry them thoroughly in a well-ventilated area.

Eat Right. No amount of styling can make up for the dull hair that results from a poor diet. Protein is key for healthy, strong hair, so eat eggs, lean meats, nuts, seafood, or soy every day.
