In a statement released on April 17, Board of Directors Chair Christopher Dahl and AAC & U President Carol Geary Schneider expressed condolences to all the families, friends, and colleagues of the many innocent victims of the tragic shootings at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In a separate condolence letter to Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger, Schneider expressed the support of the AAC & U community and noted that President Steger and other members of the Virginia Tech community "have inspired us with their strength and compassionate leadership at this difficult time."
