Seroquel, by AstraZeneca - Brief Article

Drug Cost Management Report, June, 2002

* Seroquel, by AstraZeneca, may help schizophrenia patients achieve better outcomes than do other antipsychotics because it does not cause a dose-related increase in extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS)--movement disorder side effects. EPS are frequent and debilitating side effects associated with other antipsychotics that can lead to poor treatment compliance, which can in turn lead to increased hospitalizations and poor quality of life for the undertreated patient.

The research was published in the Annals of Clinical Psychiatry. Information: Antonia Betts, antonia.betts@shirehealthinternational.com.
