RADM James S. Allan named NAVSUP's vice commander - Around NAVSUP - Brief Article

RADM Justin D. McCarthy, SC, USN, Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command, announced that RADM James S. Allan, SC, USNR, will serve as Vice Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command effective Nov. 1. RADM Allan has been serving as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Fleet Supply, and Ordnance, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and holds additional duty assignments as Commander, Logistics Task Force Pacific, and Commander, Naval Logistics Forces Korea.

He also has flag oversight responsibility for the logistics portion of all Naval Reserve Pacific Theater Augmentation units and Naval Reserve Atlantic and Pacific Supply Management Assistance Team units.

CAPT Robert Nanney will continue to serve as Chief of Staff for NAVSUP.

RADM Allan earned his bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and a master of business administration specializing in marketing from Indiana University. He received his commission from Officer Candidate School.

Allan served as supply officer aboard the USS Rainier (AE 5) and USS Chara (AE 31), and as Staff Supply Officer, Commander Service Squadron 7. He has served in a wide variety of Naval Reserve billets, including tours as commanding officer of Advanced Supply Base 420, Naval Air Pacific Supply 187, Navy Material Transportation Detachment 520, Defense Contract Management District B 1020, Defense Distribution Depot Oakland Headquarters B320, and Defense Distribution Region West Headquarters B 120.

He is a graduate of the Naval War College Command and Staff course, National Security Decision Making course, and the National Defense University National Security course.

Allan is a dealer operations manager with the Xerox, General Markets Organization.
