Navy Supply Corps Newsletter, May-June, 2005
The San Diego chapter of the Supply Corps Association had a banner night in its annual auction, raising an unprecedented amount of more than $39,000 for the Navy Supply Corps Foundation Scholarship Fund. RADM Dan Stone, Chief of the Supply Corps, accepted the check on behalf of the Supply Corps Foundation, at the San Diego chapter's Supply Corps birthday ball March 19.
The venue for the annual event was Naval Base Point Loma's Harbor Inn, which boasts breathtaking waterfront views. Gourmet food, fine wine, and more than 200 unique and valuable items attracted 225 attendees, also a record.

"When we started two years ago, we had 12 members on the auction committee," said CDR Michelle Skubic, the committee chairman for the event. "Last year, we had twice that. This year, a group of 42 motivated people from the active, reserve, and retired communities contributed to this resounding success."
Among the items purchased by attendees were autographed footballs signed by NFL stars John Lynch and Drew Brees, cruise and travel packages, jewelry and entertainment packages. One couple won dinner with R&B singer Montell Jordan at Spago's restaurant in Beverly Hills.
"We had remarkable response from merchants in the community for our cause, allowing us to bring in these unique items," Skubic said. "The great response from merchants and our membership will allow us to further the education of deserving students. It's a great cause."
