USS Rodney M. Davis Bold Runner: receives Ship's Stores Retail and Service Excellence Award for Best of FFG-7 Class

Navy Supply Corps Newsletter, July-August, 2003 by Frank Miller, Rodney M. Davis

The USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60), "Bold Runner," Sales and Service Division gathered behind a celebration cake, for a photo after receiving the Best of Class Award for Ship's Services.

This is the Davis's first award for outstanding crew support, sustainability and accountability. Preparations for this Supply Management Assessment were a culmination of Supply Officer LT Tony V. Giles vision and the outstanding dedication and superb customer service of the Ship's Services Division. Intense preparations, and "going the extra mile for the customer," the motto of the Supply Department, made the recognition possible.

Another factor is not being afraid to go outside the lifelines and seek assistance when needed from the resources of the Afloat Training Group San Diego. ATG San Diego personnel were always there to guide the ship's serviceman and to provide their leadership on achieving this outstanding goal.

SH1 (SW) Marrow and LTJG Miller led the division to this outstanding success story. LTJG Frank Miller enlisted in the Navy in 1996. He served on board the USS Peterson (DD 969), before being selected for Officer Candidate School. He reported aboard the USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60) as the Disbursing/Sales Officer in 2001.
