Saw manufacturers develop model dust/silica warning
Concrete Construction, Oct, 2004
AEM's Masonry and Concrete Saw Manufacturers Institute (SMI) has approved a model dust and silica warning statement for voluntary use by the concrete cutting equipment industry. The model warning addresses both respirable silica dust hazards as well as hazards related to dust generated from the material being cut and the blade itself.

In a related action, SMI passed a resolution recommending that individual manufacturers (both SMI members and nonmembers) carefully review the model warning and incorporate it as appropriate into their company hazard communication programs.
