ACI releases new building code
Concrete Construction, July, 2002
The American Concrete Institute (ACI International) has released the 2002 edition of Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, the most comprehensive revision of ACI 318 in 40 years. "The revisions in ACI 318-02 will cause some fairly major changes in the way engineers design concrete structures," said James R. Cagley, chairman of the committee. "We don't want designers to believe that their world has completely changed, but we also don't want to minimize the magnitude of these revisions." To assist those who use this code, ACI has scheduled 78 seminars in 55 cities starting this spring and running through next fall.
