First emissions auction held - News - Chicago Climate Exchange - Brief Article

Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) held its first auction of carbon monoxide emission allowances in September. Emission allowances were sold using sealed bids. Allowances are based on metric tons of carbon dioxide. The first auction made available 100,000 metric tons worth of allowances with a 2003 vintage and 25,000 metric tons having a 2005 vintage. Average successful bid price for 2003 vintage was 98 cents and 84 cents for 2005 vintage.
