Pomp and substance: some, but not all, of the spring graduates have jobs lined up
Concrete Producer, The, June, 2004
Not too far from Floyd Stadium, home to the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders, there's a new and bright concrete parking lot. And just to the south of its gleaming surface, several students gather around a compression testing machine, waiting to destroy a concrete cylinder.
At first, you wouldn't think there's much of a connection. But it's a fitting mosaic of what many people feel higher education should be all about.
MTSU, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., is a school with nationally recognized programs such as nursing, aeronautical engineering, and music management. It also has a strong tradition and an ever-increasing reputation for quality athletics. And now these future concrete industry executives are about to be dispatched into a competitive industry eagerly waiting new energy on a national level.
Just ask anyone involved in the school about the Concrete Industry Management program, and you'll receive an enthusiastic response. The whole idea of an industry-university relationship has been revitalized in the first 10 years of the program.
Now that the program has generated so much interest, we need to help these graduates secure places in our industry. Below are the students scheduled to graduate this year.
To arrange a campus visit, schedule an interview, or to receive a student's resume, call Debbie Londre, marketing and recruiting coordinator for the Concrete Industry Management program, at 615-904-8599, or e-mail dlondre@mtsu.edu.
