PCA launches educational foundation - News - Brief Article

Concrete Producer, The, July, 2002

The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has established a new foundation to help finance education in the cement and concrete industries and includes university research fellowships, career recruitment, and training.

At its first meeting, held during PCA's 2001 fall meeting, the PCA Education Foundation board of directors resolved to fund an initial endowment of $3.5 million from net proceeds from the sale of excess PCA property in 2001. The goal will be to increase that figure to $6 million-$10 million over the next several years.

The foundation's activities will include providing grants for scholarships, fellowships, and university professorships; sponsoring educators and students who attend workshops and seminars; developing courses and programs; developing supporting educational materials such as computer software, literature, and audiovisual materials; providing educational opportunities such as internships; and encouraging international exchanges for education and training.
