Kentuckiana Masonry Institute presents Annual Architectural Awards

The 23rd Annual Kentuckiana Masonry Institute's Architectural Awards to recognize excellence in design were presented recently at a luncheon in Lexington. Awards were given to the architect, structural engineer, mason contractor, and owner of projects in seven categories.

* "M" Honor Award for Overall Excellence in Masonry Design--Muhlenberg County Classroom Building, Madisonville Community College, Central City, Ky. (below right); Myers Jolly Architects; R.L. Wilson Masonry

* Brick Award of Honor--Mechanical Engineering & Student Commons Building, University of Kentucky, Lexington; Taylor-Whitney Architects and Anshen Allen Architects; Burkett Masonry

* Brick Award of Merit (2)--St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Louisville; Omni Architects; Marksbury Cornett (mason contractor); and South Regional Post Secondary Education Center, Glasgow, Ky.; Nolan & Nolan Inc. (architect); Benchmark Masonry

* Special Projects Award of Merit--Filson Club Historical Society Masonry Restoration and Preservation, Louisville (right); JRA Architects; Schnell Contractors (mason contractor)

* Concrete Masonry Award of Honor--Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Complex, Lexington (above); Sherman-Carter-Barnhart Architects and Hartman-Cox (architect); Mason Structure

* Concrete Masonry Award of Merit--Patriots Peace Memorial, Louisville; Bravura Corp. (architect) and David D. Quillin Architect; Central Construction (mason contractor)

* Special Projects Award of Honor--Guthrie Bell & Clock Tower Plaza, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green (above right); Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp, Chovan Inc (architect); Benchmark Masonry
