Flashing performs two duties

Masonry Construction, Sept, 2003

Jamflash semi-rigid flashing developed for use as a primary waterproofing barrier and air dam at the jambs and heads of openings in exterior cavity wall is fabricated from water-resistant polypropylene (a thermoplastic elastomer system). This material makes the flashing highly resistant to degradation under exposure to harsh weather conditions and UV rays. Compatible with silicone and polyurethane sealants, it is easily trimmed to size (the standard tension leg width is 7 inches) and provides greater longevity than exterior-grade sealants. It installs easily, is less costly and more durable than a secondary sealant joint, and does not rip, tear, or get lodged in the cavity during construction.
