Masonry units redirect reflected sound

Masonry Construction, Sept, 2003

Sound Cell specialty architectural masonry units redirect reflected noise into a sound-absorbing cavity, which results in diminished room loudness. The unit's stacking slot-type Helmhotz volume resonator provides multiple levels of sound relief at most frequencies--including 100% average absorption efficiency at the 100-125-160-200-Hz frequency bandwidth. This low-frequency absorption supplies sound control that cannot be captured by carpets, drapes, acoustical tiles, and similar items. Other benefits include overall sound quality improvement, flutter echo and room resonance reduction, and noise elimination.
