Jamflash provides a simple and cost-effective method for providing a primary waterproofing barrier and air dam at the jambs and heads of openings in exterior cavity walls. The product is a semirigid flashing fabricated from water-resistant polypropylene (a thermoplastic elastomer system), which makes it highly resistant to degradation under exposure to harsh weather conditions and UV rays. It is compatible with silicone and polyurethane sealants, is easily trimmed to size (the standard tension leg width is 7 inches), and provides greater longevity than exterior-grade sealants. Jamflash is less problematic and easier to install than sheet membrane flashing, is less costly and more durable than a secondary sealant joint, and does not rip, tear, or get lodged in the cavity during construction. The extruded product contains no joints or seams that could fail.
