Scaffold planks increase safety

Masonry Construction, March, 2004 by Jenni Spinner

GripStrip scaffold planks provide a safer traction surface than rough-sawn lumber. The planks are proof-loaded as an extra step to increase safety. The manufacturing process uses high fiber quality lumber with all defects removed. Hardened steel pins are hydraulically pressed into the ends to prevent splits. All planks are branded from end to end with the customer's name, OSHA compliance stamp, and manufacture date. Each plank is treated with a waterproofing sealer for protection against moisture penetration and splits. Three different strengths are available: light duty (25 psf), medium duty (50 psf), and heavy duty (75 psf).
