Brick show: informative program and exciting social activities await attendees

Savannah, Ga., will host Brick Show 2004 flora April 1-3. The Brick Industry Association meeting will include educational sessions, product exhibits, and several social events, including a golf tournament, two tours of local attractions, and the annual banquet.

Educational activities

The educational portion of the Brick Show includes two seminars and a general session.

"Sustainable Brickwork" is two-part program that will provide background information on the BIA/BAC sustainability brochure--"Brick Revisited"--and explain how to work with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) System. The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system is described, along with how it relates to brick. Speakers include Jewel Warlick, Brick Association of the Carolinas, and Ross Spiegel, Fletcher-Thompson Inc.

"Color Forecasting: Application for the Brick Industry" will be presented by internationally recognized consultant Leatrice Eiseman, who is often called "America's color guru." Her expertise is in color selection for interior and exterior design.

"The View from OSHA" will highlight the Bush administration's priorities in the areas of occupational safety and health, and will discuss the very topical issue of regulations concerning crystalline silica. The Hon. John Henshaw, OSHA administrator, will deliver the remarks.
