Scaffolding systems serve small jobs

Masonry Construction, April, 2003 by Jim Camillo

A line of portable and lightweight brackets can be hung on either side of a wall (8-inch CMU, stud, etc.) or over a beam to serve as the frame of a scaffolding system designed for small jobs. Each bracket holds up to 250 pounds of evenly distributed weight and features a support beam for planks that extend 38 inches from the wall, which allows enough room to lay brick while standing on the platform. This support beam also can be raised or lowered in 6-inch increments along the 6-foot-high bracket. The scaffold system sets up in five easy steps. First, adjust the wall hook to the proper width and the support beam to the correct plank height. Next, position the bracket on the wall, secure planks (not included) to the support beams, and attach handrail posts (included).
