Tracks improve skidsteer flotation and traction

Masonry Construction, April, 2003 by Jim Camillo

Protrac over-the-tire tracks for skidsteers comes in three varieties to increase flotation and traction--both off-road and on-road. Diamond tracks feature diamond-shaped crossbars that prevent skidsteer sliding, even when driving sideways on a slope or working in wet or icy conditions. Heat-treated, magnesium tracks (shown) feature a defined directional lug pattern that protects tires against punctures in heavy-duty-debris situations. Rubber tracks are reinforced with steel plates and have a directional lug pattern similar to a skidsteer tire that lets the vehicle travel freely over hard finished surfaces such as concrete and asphalt. Both the magnesium and rubber tracks are fully rebuildable.
