Masonry Construction, July, 2002 by Jim Camillo

Steel block does not require an embed (metal placed on the face of a masonry wall for reinforcement) like standard CMU. The block are made of sturdy steel to the exact dimensions of a standard masonry block and can be placed in the same manner, yet they weigh less than standard block. When filled with concrete and anchored with reinforcing rods, the steel block become an indestructible base. Block types include horizontal, vertical, brick veneer shelf, removable face plate, air vent, toilet tissue, stainless mirror, recessed shelf, and others.
